Dual Citizenship
Some of the new rules of the New Swedish Citizenship Act from 1 July 2001 are the following:
Dual Citizenship is now fully accepted. A Swedish citizen who acquires citizenship of another country does not lose his/her Swedish citizenship. Similarly, a foreign citizen who applies for Swedish citizenship may retain his/her citizenship if the law of the country permits it. U.S.A and Sweden has mutually agreed on dual citizenship.
A person who has lost his/her citizenship through acquisition of citizenship of another country may regain the Swedish citizenship by notification. The notification can be made during the period 1 July 2001 - 30 June 2003 on application form #311011.
